@eatingwhatisgiven: These Korean cafes are like time capsuls of Korea's history. But sadly, dabang coffee culture is nearly extinct. If you're in Korea, I highly reccomend visiting a Dabang, and here are 2 old-school cafes that still capture the history of Korean coffee culture.
I don’t understand why Starbucks is so popular here. It’s so much more expensive than the other coffee shops.

Do they sell tee there as well to take home? It was difficult finding tea spots in Seoul, especially if you want some that’s not a tourist trap, seems young gen r not into it as well

Living in Korea for 2.5 months, I have dodged Starbucks any chance I get. Mom and pop stores and small businesses get my business instead. Thank you for sharing this, I’ll have to try it out!

Very cool. I’ve never heard of this concept but I see traditional Chinese desserts making a comeback (I’m from NYC). I hope this Korean traditional style holds strong for me to visit one day

We used to have a jeju inspired teahouse in my current city in Korea and it was REPLACED and gentrified by some other coffee shop. Then another tea shop closed. They were so cozy.

A GREAT way to help this not fade away would be to be fluent in Korean after being here more than ten years 👍

I enjoyed these too! I was introduced to 전통찻집 지대방 in Insadong. I was told the owner of the tea shop grows all/much of his own tea leaves
