Uber requires identity verification, Face ID, an SSN, and valid work authorization to activate a driver account. If your work authorization isn’t valid or up to date, Uber won’t let you drive. So being in an official Uber waiting/parking area does NOT automatically mean someone is undocumented. ICE detaining people at Uber pickup or waiting lots without clear cause creates fear and confusion, because they don’t actually know someone’s status just by seeing them there. This ends up looking random, wastes time, and increases the risk of unnecessary confrontations with people who may be citizens or legally authorized to work.
