It's important to note this book is very poltical. I feel that if you are a Trans man, especially in this political climate, you may feel seen by the end of this. While the worms don't do much in a traditional sense, they contribute in the same way the government contributes and interferes in the lives of its people, especially here in America. The government, to the average person, just kind of sits there (as the worms do in this book) but boy howdy do they sure make rules and laws and demands and have their followers enact them on their behalf (as the worms do in this book). The true horror lies in one's bodily autonomy being stripped away, being forced to carry a baby you don't want, being forced to present in a way that is mentally detrimental, etc. The worms are the reason for all of it.
