every action has an equal and opposite reaction. if adding the thalamus to a brain organoid makes it act more “human,” wouldn’t it be best to attempt to replicate other parts of the brain (idk the scientific term so i’m calling them parts) such as the cerebellum? at least as far as i understand it, the current theory of how human brains evolved is that it started from the cerebellum, so would it not stand to reason to try and grow a cerebellum instead and see how it acts outside of the brain? (my guess is that you would need to know the chemistry which goes a magnitude down in scale, and to answer the inconsistencies there you’d need to know the subatomic science, and so on…)

If you can create a thalamus organoic, and integrate it with a computer chip, and hook it up to a cortex organoid, then would you be able to create a virtual brain that is connected to a computer? AI-human hybrid?

i guess we are probably far away from getting that far but, what if we don’t realise in the future that the lab brain can experience pain and it’s even worse then testing on willing participants.
