You fellas in the comments seem to not understand that the line was in a different place and when extension in a void space gets uncovered you cannot just snap your fingers and make a new line appear or snap your fingers and the existing line be repositioned like magic. This is clearly a complicated fire that’s extended through lots of voids in a not so small building. Someone opening up a void probably discovered fire that started rolling like crazy. Look at the nearby windows. They were clearly rolling fire that’s now been knocked down. The FDNY fights fire in buildings built in the 1800s that have potentially been renovated a number of times that would blow your mind.
