You need to have a larger enclosure even if its temporary. A 40 gallon is awesome, but even a 25 gallon is better than that small enclosure/tank. I recommend changing the substrate that one you have currently isnt good for him. He appears sick so keep feeding him, the insects need to be dusted or it will become vitamin A deficient, it needs calcium as well. Without UVB your poor gecko will get MBD. I hope to see big improvement asap and I am going to follow u to keep up with your progress and journey

id recommend upgrading his enclosure ASAP the need uvb or they will get mbd and its not pretty at all, if you still want a small enclosure for the gecko until he grows more than id say get him into a 20 gallon right away

I know people have said it but really get a bigger enclosure. This is so small. They should have at least 3 hides. One on the warm side one on the cool side and a humid hide.

Where is the heat? How do you measure your heat? I recommend a different substrate and some UVB as well.

Please get it a much bigger enclosure. He needs to have a warm side and cool side and you can’t give him the proper temps on each side in such a small enclosure. He will need 3 hides including a humid hide. My daughter rescues geckos that have not had proper care due to lack of research. Burns from improper heating, metabolic bone disease from lack of proper nutrition, etc. Please google Reptifiles and look up leopard gecko care and follow the recommendations. They aren’t just cute they are long commitments and deserve to be kept ethically.

I understand you said they have gained weight but as an experienced gecko owner my biggest fear is cryptosporidium! This is what new first time gecko owners need to understand. Too many poor geckos pass because it’s a “beginner” pet
