In 16 years of schooling in the Northern UK, I cannot think of a single day the school was closed for any reason. The 70s and 80s were brutal.

As a taxi driver who does school runs, I check because it means I can have like an extra hour in bed if I don’t have to go pick the kids up 😂

One of my favourite memories was my mum looking at a website that broadcast every school when they announced a closure, and mine was one of the LAST to close, and that whole time praying it turned red

I’m 27, I finished school in 2015 yet I still check both of my secondary schools like it’s some how going to effect me (I even forgot my age while typing this and had to check my health app on my phone to get my age😂)

i only remember once notneeding to go to school bc of weather. and that was because it was -40°c and the taxi that was to take us to school broke 😅 that was one day! did not matter if it snowed and it went higher than your nose in the morning ... off to school we went 😬

I can't say I have that. Here in Poland even when there was -20 deg freezing with a heavy snowing we head to go to the shool. I don't think it was canceled due to weather even once.
