Even in the demonstration the plasma is cracking the glass. Which means if the charged particles is powerful enough, it will break through.

Just because plasma generated by 2V battery can't pierce glass rod doesn't mean that any plasma can't do anything to a glass. Plasma is - simplified - overheated gas. It would melt a glass. The shit in the video barely even sparks. The plasma in the movies is fucking bright.
