@bi.johnathan: I'm Desperately Trying To Be Religious — Full Interview on YouTube @bi.johnathan "Nietzsche's Warnings for Modern Man | UChicago's Robert Pippin" #nietzsche #philosophy
I’d say Orthodox Christian theology is the most coherent, in every aspect

Study the words of each of both Jesus and Buddha. One’s objective is to rid the person of suffering i.e. get rid of desire & suffering will end. The other said to voluntarily, willingly, and encourage your own suffering; suffering and mourning for the condition of the souls of humanity. One is selfishness masked as selflessness. The other is true love.

Wouldn’t it be obvious that this just means that none of them are true because it’s the human mind at play?

I have found that there are truths within all religions. Simultaneously, none represent universal truth within a singular dynamic.

You can incorporate the principles and practices of Buddhism along with any, or no religious framework. So why not both? Why choose?

it's easy... If Jesus Christ is real, than he's the only way into heaven. Buddhism says you can get to heaven through your own merit, which if you believe in Jesus Christ, you would know you can't do it by yourself.

ever hear omnists (sp?)? There's a little bit of truth in all spiritual beliefs. that's about where I am at. I generally look at everything through a lens of neutrality - not having picked any side yet because I am still deciding who I am and who I want to or am going to be. so when i looked into all the different religions and spiritual beliefs, I started asking, "What if they're all saying the same thing but in the way they understand and experience life" (almost like as if this is proof of the aftermath of the tower of babel)? Like, what if Pantheonism talked about God's different personalities personified into different people? or what if Buddhism and Hinduism is the story of God before he created the universe? What if we are all pieces of God since the Christians say God is inside of us and we all have a unique and personal relationship with Him? What if the different monotheistic religions are all talking about the same God but calling him by a different name? I know I am a different person with each of my friends because they either have different needs or they met me at a different phase of life than another person.
>I agree with your take on all religions being coherent. Empathy and understanding paired with setting aside the "ego" per se seems to point to the same thing.

You are in the right track. You will find the way as long as you stay open and experience the religious paths with an open heart and eyes that do not shy away from things that make you question inconsistencies. However, live. Make choices that put you in places that are deeply uncomfortable, that humble you and disgust you as well as ones that inspire you. You “see” more and learn more. Faith is a journey that runs parallel to truth. The closer you get to truth, you are closer to faith. “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” •

The secret is honestly we are all trying, from a Catholic/orthodox perspective, our lives is a giant journey into accepting the faith and living it

I mean the logical conclusion is that there is no objective truth and we can be easily contented with multiple competing explanations. The search for truth, or the idea that someone has figured out the truth is itself a fools errand

Faith is what’s lacking, there is no intelectual cheat code to coming to grips with the matter of sin. Putting your knowledge up against God’s pattern is fallacious, you risk missing it all.

I think Christianity and Buddhism have very similar metaphysical views. Putting atheism aside, which is less a problem I think than most think, you find both these religions believe paying attention to reality makes you more compassionate and helps you find peace and joy in the present. So I feel like Jesus and the Buddha are best friends.

Story :
religions are not static doctrines they are living consciousnesses that seek expression in humanity. think of them as ancient priests...filled with journeys and depths that are incomprehensible . 🙏

Wyatt :
I think a large part of the issue of equipollence is that it applies the power of “choice” to a cultural system of meaning making that was not originally intended to be “chosen” against another.
