Family is complicated, and its okay to not go and grief on your own. U can always visit his grave and say goodbye when u are ready to. Feel hugged :)

do not bottle up grief. I did so way too many times because I never learned how to process through it and now that I am slowly processing it it takes so much more time and energy than it could have. if you feel like it talk to a therapist, it helped me tremendously.

Hi sjokz. I never thought i would hear something like this from you (an icon). I’m so sorry for your loss regardless of your relation to him. My dad has cancer and in some ways I just don’t care that he’s sick. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Not everyone’s life is perfect no matter how it seems. You’re allowed to process however is right for you. Sending my best thoughts.

Sending you all the love! As someone that also has no contact with one parent i can totally imagine how you must be feeling atm. All your feelings are valid and i am sorry you had to experience so much loss. You are a such a beautiful soul and i hope the family you choose (your friends) can give you some comfort in your grief & hurt.

1/2: I don’t have either parent in my life and I will never ever be able to forgive them for my childhood, even when family members have told me I should. I don’t know how I will feel when they pass, probably just as conflicted, but I think eventually I would visit them when they’re gone and ask them to forgive me for being unable to forgive them.

oof - you are 1 million percent allowed to have complex feelings and there is no timeline for grief .. You are such a gorgeous and kind soul - i hope you’re taking good care of yourself in this weird and difficult time. i used to be so jealous of ‘normal’ families, sometimes i still am . families can be so incredibly weird and sadly there is no handbook for dealing with life and death. sending so much love 🤍

Not everyone but a lot of people are broken in their own way. You have been through so much already. Everyone grieves their own way. Just do what best for you!! You don’t owe your dad anything. I’m estranged from my own dad for my own reason. I wouldn’t attend his either. Funeral and grief is for the family, how you want to grief is your personal preference that nobody gets to judge. Be selfish! If there is a time for it , it’s now.

Sjokz im saying this out of nothing but caring. I have seen "perfectly happy" families are typically anything but. That being said, you are allowed to grieve however you feel the need, and whether its laying in bed and crying or popping champagne and celebrating are all valid feelings. Just be gracious with yourself(its way harder said than done obviously)

hi love! so sorry for your loss. this is something i’ve always thought about. it’s been years since i’ve spoken to my father and i always consider how ill feel. it’s hard enough to grieve someone who’s alive, and just as hard to grieve them again. my fiancé has a great relationship with his family and it tears me up & i wish i could feel that sense of family and connection. i’m not going to ramble (like i totally could), but i hear you, i understand you. you’re so valid and loved ❤️
