I saw a theory that soemone posted I forgot their username but basically they said how there was connections between nightmare on elm street to stranger things. And when everyone thought the series nightmare on elm street was over they released a documentary which was secretly another movie. So same could happen with stranger things

Last post about my Stranger Things theory—just in case it happens, I want a record of calling it. I think the “documentary” coming out on the 12th is actually going to be done in the style of Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, where the villain breaks out of the fictional world and enters ours. Vecna never said which worlds he was trying to merge, so my theory is that he’s trying to merge Hawkins with the real world. That would also line up with the creators saying The Matrix and The Truman Show were inspirations—both stories about characters slowly realizing their reality isn’t what they think it is. In this case, the illusion wouldn’t just apply to Hawkins, but to us as the audience as well. In this scenario, Vecna escapes Hawkins and begins attacking the real-life Stranger Things cast and creators. The documentary becomes a meta story where fiction and reality collide. Eventually, the cast and crew manage to defeat Vecna and send him back to Hawkins, restoring the correct timeline—either by releasing the final four episodes with the true timeline of events, or through an additional episode where Vecna returns to Hawkins and everyone realizes they were still under his curse. Nobody really needs to read this—I just want a record of my theory before the 12th.
