@samdamovieman: I think the key to not getting upset over peoples opinions on a movie is to not get emotionally invested in the film outside of watching it. You can love a film and talk about it a lot, but once it begins to become your identity that’s when things get dicey. Follow me for more of my perspective on media!
Your right to an opinion is valid, but not every criticism is valid. There’s good faith and bad faith criticisms.

I would agree but i have a buddy that just has no concept of art. Idk how to exactly frame it for perspective, but he can watch any piece of media or see any movie or painting and he takes it purely at face value. He doesnt care if theres a story behind a piece, he doesnt care if a movie follows a dialogue or concept well, its purely what hes seeing in that moment and what thats worth to him

Validity doesn't equate to worth. Yes, everyone inherently has an opinion and personal critiques for everything thet encounter. But that does not inherently give any of those opinions worth if they are not built on ateong critical thinking, strong interpretation and media literacy. Yes, media literacy is a thing and yes it is dying and yes, you need to have media literacy to make a solid criticism of any value.

As long as you can express why you reacted and not just how you reacted. Some people just rage or praise. That's boring.

I agree as long as it’s an actual reaction to something and not just regurgitating some opinion you saw online

Nahh, I think you gotta at least kinda defend your point. Like if you saw something like parasite and took away that inequality is a good thing, you probably didn’t really pay attention
