You can be aware of whats going on currently, but there’s a fine line between staying informed and becoming consumed by it. Most people struggle to walk that line, it’s easy to get emotionally wrapped up, and rightfully so. Over time, though it can start taking a real toll on mental and physical health. Burnout and numbness serve the powers that be just as well as ignorance. A regulated nervous system is more useful to change than a constantly activated one. So yes, be aware and informed but keep your balance for your health. It’s really okay to step back and disconnect for a while if needed. That doesn’t mean you don’t care or that you’re not fighting for a better world... I really enjoyed your post tbh 🙌

you are spot on. we’ve been trying to build a reading community that focuses on unpacking what these stories are really asking of us and how it’s relevant today. we covered brave new world and are on 1984 now. reading is resistance, less doomscrolling more reading!!!

Every time I start to feel the helplessness creep up, I pour love into my community. Donations, volunteering, helping my neighbors. It doesn’t fix the world at large, but if me helping creates a ripple of helping then I can make my little corner a little better

won’t lie, some of these books‘ arguments on morality completely confused me at first. I ended up unpacking a few passages with an app and the way it broke down the context and counterarguments actually made it click. AI for books discussions is lowkey underrated.

Issam Hamad :
Orwell’s Animal Farm was a critique of the Russian Revolution, with Napoleon’s dictatorship mirroring Stalin’s rule—so much so that the CIA funded a film adaptation to use as anti-Communist propaganda. Issam Hamad's My Animal Farm retells the story from a new perspective, revealing how the collective West waged a relentless war against the revolution. Without Western intervention, the Soviet Union might have realized the vision of a just society, where “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs” was more than a dream. Without falling into propaganda itself, this novel reclaims a revolution that could have changed the world.

How refreshing it is to hear someone talk like a real leader. It’s been so lacking I almost forgot what it sounded like 👏🏼 #solidarity

Comfortably numb. Hit the nail on the head with that one for most of us. Being numb is more comfortable than acknowledging how chaotic things are becoming.

'There was never much hope. Just a fool's hope'. (J.R.R. Tolkien). In the face of all the numbness surrounding us, I'll always find hope. Thank you for the reminder.

The goal seems to be over consumption causing paralysis by over analysis. While we are overthinking every detail and trying to formulate the perfect plan the opposition is making moves to further their agenda. Action is the first step we must take and the courage to stand on it moving forward is the hardest thing to hold.
