@okstorytime: My husband's ex-wife lost her high-paying job... and now my children's education is in jeopardy! #reddit #redditstories #redditreadings #reddit_tiktok
I’m so over people acting like step kids should be equally provided for. They have different parents and different opportunities as a result. They’re not the same.

Do not switch your children's school. His children's changed circumstances does not ever dictate her children's lives. Sad for the children though.

But.. Would Greg have paid FOR HER kids when he was the one who wanted these things to be paid separate in the first place🤔

If he is paying for it, OP has nothing to say. Unfortunately

He would not have changed his kid’s school if her circumstances changed.

Do not change it. If education was seperate before it should stay seperate.

She had nothing to explain. She shouldn't change her children's school. The cost of it isn't on her husband anyway.

so it's only okay for her kids to get a good education if his kids do too. what if the roles were reversed?

People who are saying she should pay for her step kids, private school is a minimum of 20 K per kid. One is 15 one is 10. That would be a minimum of 200 K for the next eight years, most people don’t have that to spend.

you can't be "the better person and pay" if you dont have the spare funds. it's really that simple & no the other kids shouldn't change schools because step siblings have unfortunately have had too. stuff like this is why coparenting can be tough especially when money varies

Why on earth would all kids suffer for the step kids? That's not on them and you have to do what's right.

The parents of the children need to make the decisions for the children, on both sides of this. Being a blended family is fine, but it doesn’t change the parenting obligations 🤷🏻♀️

I’m a stepmom and while this story was super hard to follow, I would 1) absolutely contribute to my stepsons education to keep him at his same school if I could afford it, and 2) I would absolutely not change my kids school regardless of how the situation played out 🤷🏻♀️

From a court perspective its about the best interest of the kids; therefore removing kids from a better school will never fly. If you dont have the money then you dont, you have to live within your means or if its possible you or greg get a second job 🤷♀️
