@whatwecookingtonight: Ingredients For the Pound Cake • 3 cups all-purpose flour • 1 tsp baking powder • ½ tsp salt • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened • 2 cups granulated sugar • 5 large eggs, room temperature • 1 tbsp vanilla extract • 1 cup buttermilk (or sour cream) • 1 cup toasted chopped pecans For the Pecan Praline Glaze • ½ cup unsalted butter • 14 oz (1 can) sweetened condensed milk • ½–¾ cup chopped pecans (optional: 1–2 tbsp light brown sugar for deeper caramel flavor) ⸻ 👩‍🍳 Instructions 1. Prep the Oven & Pan 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). 2. Grease and flour a Bundt pan (or tube pan). 2. Make the Pound Cake Batter 1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. 2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy with an electric mixer. 3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. 4. Stir in the vanilla extract. 5. Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. 6. Fold in the toasted pecans. 7. Pour the batter into your prepared pan and smooth the top evenly. 3. Bake 1. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. 2. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10–15 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely. 4. Make the Praline Glaze 1. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. 2. Add the sweetened condensed milk (and brown sugar if using) and whisk until smooth and warm but not boiling. 3. Stir in the chopped pecans. 4. Let the glaze cool slightly (5 minutes) so it thickens a bit. 5. Glaze the Cake 1. While the cake is still slightly warm (but not hot), spoon the praline glaze over the top, letting it drip down the sides. 2. Allow it to set for a few minutes before slicing and serving. ⸻ 🍽️ Tips & Variations • Toast your pecans in a dry skillet for 5–7 minutes before adding to the batter to boost their flavor. • Add a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg to the cake batter for extra warmth. • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a decadent dessert experience. • If you want more caramel notes, mix a little light brown sugar into the glaze.
