Hence why people think they are seeing ASL when pidgin is used. Its using ASL vocabulary with English Syntax. Most people don’t realize ASL has a different syntax. Either way brings people more curiosity for ASL and since Paxton is a dual language learner- it’s probably helpful for him too. 🥰❤

So if someone who speaks ASL tries to talk to you, can you both understand each other? I’m trying to teach myself sign and I recently saw someone sign ASL and it felt really awkward so I’m thinking pidgin maybe would be better?

I’ve been trying to learn sign language for years. And now I am considered hard of hearing due to my hearing loss..I just. I don’t know how to get myself into the deaf community. I’ve always been a loner type. So I just use bill from YouTube. Or lingvano. I guess what I wanna know is. How do I get myself into the deaf community? Also. No I don’t have money to spend on asl classes due to my rent being so high living in Colorado. Help?🥹

I never knew there was another name for signing this way!! my best friend has a CI and this is how I learn. I know I've been using improper grammar, but learning the signs feels like first step!

If I don’t vocalise, I do pure BSL or ASL but if I do then deaf pidgin (i see PSE as pure English-based sign). I actually find it harder to simcom because it’s also sim-interpretation and I kind of have to think it through sometimes.

please tell me more. I'm from the UK so we have BSL but trying to learn and teach a child is hard when it's not spoken the same way you sign. I want it to be recognised amongst BSL but also simplified for us. almost like a 'baby sign' if they makes sense?
