Is soap and water clean up okay for day to day care? I would like to get rid of my plastic cutting boards and switch to wood but worried about proper cleaning to avoid bacteria.

Keep in mind: this is the “honing steel” process for the board. Eventually you are going to need the “sharpening stone” kind of process where you do need to sand or plane down the work surface.

If I have a used/vintage one that’s really gross will this work? Or should I give it a light sand first?
