I love this movie because to me, it shows how easy it is to repeat the cycle- no matter how much you resent it or don’t want to. Juan felt guilty, he knew it was wrong, which is why he felt the need to take care of Chiron, but it was all he knew. That was his life. And even though Chiron resented him for it- he became just like him because it was all he knew as well. We never want to be like our parents and no matter how hard we try there’s still some of them in us and our circumstances in a lot of cases decide our fate as we’re growing up. Such a great and beautiful movie.

the cinematography was insane in this movie just look at the scene where little chiron wrestles the kid in the field, it literally looks like what experiencing things as a kid looks like and they made it so immersion that u barely even notice the camera work and just feel it
