Buddy Guy - 'The First Time I Met the Blues' live 1970 Another one for the great Buddy Guy's birthday, again filmed at Theresa's Lounge! I re-edited this using the audio from the LP which includes the full version of the song and added some extra footage of Chicago from the Blues in Chicago Documentary. Buddy was filmed in the legendary Teresa's in the South Side of Chicago and there's some amazing playing here from Buddy as usual. The excellent 'Chicago Blues' documentary released in 1972 by Chicago native Harley Cokliss, was about Chicago Blues and the migrating black community that brought Blues music from rural Mississippi. Cokliss was inspired to make the film from knowing bluesman and housepainter Johnnie Lewis, who introduced him to Blues music as a child. It was principaly Chicago Blues, electrified, tougher and grittier than it's rural counterpart that became such a world influence, inspiring the rock scene and artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Rollings Stones, Cream, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, the Grateful Dead and many, many others.
