@filmenthusiast: I love this tragic, subtle parallel in the Godfather Trilogy. Both Vito and Michael Corleone die of old age in a garden setting, retired dons relaxing in the sun with oranges nearby. The parallel is deliberate, but the contrast reveals everything. Vito collapses while playing with his grandson, a symbol of succession and rebirth from one generation to the next, surrounded by love and innocence despite his violent world. Michael dies alone. No children, no grandchildren, no partner, no family nearby. Only a couple of dogs moving around him. Despite having more blood on his hands than the local butcher, Vito exudes an approachable warmth and outwardly shows love for his family. This warmth is arguably what prevents Vito from dying alone. Michael, on the other hand, takes on a more steely persona after inheriting the family business, regularly putting business before family, even ordering the assassination of his own brother Fredo. The same ending, two completely different lives. One dies in connection, the other in isolation. 🍊

No it’s wrong. Michael put family first. The time was different from Vito. He had to fight with much more difficulty and against fearsome opponents. The more he grow the greater the enemy becomes. He killed his brother not to put business first but to protect the family because a weak sheep is the greatest threat ! His brother was jealous and sold precious information to kill Michael with the hope to take his place. He was wrong all the way. Also at the end he tried to clean his business to focus more on the family. But the enemy of this time was far more violent that what he expected. He did his best, but doing his best is not always sufficient. He died alone but he joined his father Vito.

Era muy difícil un final diferente, fueron diferentes épocas y la lealtad no se traspasa se gana.. pienso que si hubiera perdona a Fredo posiblemente sus hijos no se hubieran alejado pero al final el camino era turbio por los enemigos que tenía😔
