The black box is for a dose that isn’t given to infants, no? IV administration not the newborn dose. ALSO 1 in 60 babies who’d do not receive vit k experience VKDB and that’s really big odds. My midwife carries the preservative free one 🙌

I'm an L&D nurse and I'm STUNNED by how many parents hear that their baby has a 1 in 60 chance of a brain bleed without Vitamin K and still decline it. It's downright medical neglect IMO

I believe no parent is intentionally trying to harm their child. They just aren’t able to access and interpret accurate information and there is so much distrust right now. You can Google search anything and get 100 websites that fit your narrative or beliefs.

we just did oral drops that I bought from the pharmacy. they have sunflower oil for preservatives and vitamin k. that's it. the shot is: Vitamin K1 Injection is available in 1 mg (1 mg/0.5 mL) and 10 mg (10 mg/mL) single-dose ampuls. Each milliliter contains phytonadione 2 mg or 10 mg, polyoxyethylated fatty acid derivative 70 mg, dextrose, hydrous 37.5 mg in water for injection; benzyl alcohol 9 mg added as preservative.
