Im from Sweden and in Tokyo rn. I think it feels safer in Tokyo or any bigger cities because there’s always people around, so if something happens there will be people to help me. Stockholm can be empty depending what area you are in

I think if you compare it with other cities in the world of similar size, Tokyo definitely stands out as the safest to me at least. But yeah, there are bad people everywhere 😒

Maybe fear comes from deeper or broader knowledge from living in a place. Maybe less aware or less knowledgable would lead to a greater sense of safety in comparison.

i haven't been anywhere in japan but ik it is not 100% safe because there will always be something bad happening but where i live if I walk alone at night especially at weekends i am on the edge of sprinting home😅
