as a ex hotel maid, I use the duvet lines from top to bottom, not side to side, stops the lumps, but of course depends on how long you want yours

Tip! Get a clothing steamer to steam your bedsheets when they’re on the bed! Saves ironing (which can be a pain with kingsize and super king) and saves space too as you won’t need an ironing board
