Mind you, New England was populated by people who *fled* the values of the Enlightenment era and Scientific Revolution occurring in Europe. They wanted the freedom to persecute and control. Their ideal “city on a hill” was a rigid Christian theocracy. Democracy was never the original vision for this country. This is important to remember.

we have this idea that we’ve suffered more than anybody ever (when it’s the exact OPPOSITE) and we’re the be all end all when it comes to these social constructs that are literally all made up and change across cultures so we don’t bother educating ourselves 😒😒😒😒 (and the “education” we are allowed here is absolutely worthless!!!)
