Each week there is a theme with action items so you actually start investing. Week 1: de-intimidation week This is where we start building a strong foundation. I’m throwing a ton of jargon at you, but the goal is for you to start becoming familiar with the terms, not to memorize them. You’ll understand what investing versus savings is, how compound interest works, what you need to do before investing and what the stock market actually is. Week 2: choose your brokerage firm We are shifting into structure. You’ll learn what a brokerage firm is, how to choose one, the different account types (like a traditional versus Roth IRA) and take action (if you want) and open an account. Week 3: your first investment How to choose your first investment can be so overwhelming. We are going to focus on ETFs. You’ll learn what an ETF is, what an index fund is, how to read an ETF quote, how to use a fund screener, and end with how to place a trade. Week 4: plan beyond January I’m going to show you what your positions page will look like. The differences between a realized gain and an unrealized gain. How your portfolio adjusts as you grow in your life… and actions that will help set you up for success. Class is officially in session. You can start or stop this at anytime!
