@sacramentourbanmedia916: Two people were shot by federal agents in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday, according to city police. The Department of Homeland Security later confirmed that the agents involved were with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Portland Police Chief Bob Day said during a Thursday night briefing that a man and a woman were wounded in the shooting and taken to the hospital. Their conditions were not disclosed. On Friday, Homeland Security identified the injured individuals as Luis David Nico Moncada and Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras, both from Venezuela. The agency alleged the pair are connected to the Tren de Aragua gang. DHS said Moncada entered the United States illegally in 2022 and is under a removal order, while Zambrano-Contreras allegedly entered the country illegally in 2023. The PCUN farmworkers union, which advocates for immigrant and Latino communities, said the two people who were shot are married. According to DHS, Border Patrol agents stopped a vehicle while searching for a Venezuelan national they claim is in the country unlawfully and linked to the gang. The agency said the driver attempted to use the vehicle to strike agents after they identified themselves. An agent then fired a shot, citing fear for his safety, DHS said. Authorities said the vehicle left the scene with both occupants inside.#fyp #viral
