Sheltering parenting made me think fun equals bad and individuality was not encouraged whatsoever now it’s hard to trust myself with anything especially dating because my mind is telling me I can’t….I’m studying abroad this semester I hope it helps me be independent and get over this unnecessary fear of everything

and then since youre not encouraged to make your own decisions, your parents end up not respecting you or treat you like an adult because you dont have the confidence to break away . its like they set you up to fail then also resent you

I was also raised in a everything= fear/stress, my mind protected me from going insane by not consciously processing that anxiety but instead processing it as physical pain which manifested as migraines (that are triggered by literally every aspect of living because everything = scary) and I'm still unlearning all that

me too! Also, being poor makes you fearful of losing safety and stability so you don’t have money as a safety net from bad things that happen.

My dad projected all of his anxieties and catastrophic fears onto me and my nervous system and I grew up without any sense of my own competency or self-assuredness and my parents wonder why I’m stuck in arrested development

He has not given us a spirit of fear but power love and a sound mind! Go on a solo trip! It’s mindset changing!

It’s so deeply rooted in my brain that even getting over this fear mindset makes me believe that something is gonna go in the worst way possible.

Courage is not the absence of fear; it is the ability to act while fear is present. When fear is no longer seen as an enemy but as a survival messenger, it transforms from a barrier into a teacher.
