I think it’s fascinating that James did one bad thing due to a complex situation/complex emotions and vilifies himself so much that a large portion of the audience believe he is in fact evil

I love how complicated James is because it boils down to an aspect if a person who did terrible things is considered better or deep down “good” just because of their self hatred and regret

My favourite detail, which is probably the saddest, is that Silent Hill didn’t have this nightmarish energy to begin with because the cult contaminated it. Then you’ve got Pyramid Head that seems to be the very last good energy who kills the monsters and guides James through its scary presence.
