Fun fact. You can actually give your baby any last name you want on the birth certificate. You can give them a random one. You can make up one. Even straight folks. I’ve seen straight couples combine their last name (a la fellcuzzi) for their kids!

My wife and her ex decided to change their last name to my wife’s grandma’s last name when they got pregnant. Neither had a good relationship with their dad and they were both super close with her grandma. When they split my wife’s ex kept the last name to stay the same as our daughter. Her ex remarried and her new wife took the same last name and I came and took the last name too. So now our daughter is 23 with 4 moms that share her last name.

I have a second middle name (my mom’s maiden name) love that! Also my wife and I kept our names and didn’t change them when we got married. We did hyphenate our two kids last names because we felt like that gave us some protection (school pick up, hospital, possible overturning gay marriage etc.). We also use a shortened combined version for casual stuff like Christmas cards that represents our family in an informal way.

Another cool option for your daughter would be to give her just a first name and ordinal number followed by an amazing set of royal titles and honorifics 😌 (for example: Alexandria I, Conqueror of Terra, Scourge of the Galaxy, Dread Princess of the Twelve Realms)
