It’s Haluski. My paternal grandparents were Slovak and we had this on Good Friday. Cabbage, onion, noodles and butter. My dad is 92, I’m 62 and this is one of our favorites. 😊

I make this but I start it off with half a pound of bacon instead of butter. Cook the cabbage in the bacon fat and it’s divine.

ALL the feels 👇😭 It’s impossible to replace the feeling of walking into a room and being instantly bombarded with hugs, knowing that everything you say will make an impact, you are literally making dreams come true. That’s what I gave up when I gave up princessing. And I knew that without that comparison, other live painters were truly living the dream. But no matter how successful I became in the industry, I always felt a hole in my heart. I’m good at painting. That’s been true for 20+ years now. But since I learned to paint, I’ve had to sacrifice interacting with others in order to get better at it. From giving up being on track & field in high school, to long hours spent alone in the studio - painting has always been something that takes me away from connecting with people, rather than bringing me closer. I spent the first 4.5 years of my wedding painting career feeling heartbroken that my back was always turned to the party. I missed the days when I would enter a room and feel the energy shift. I would leave weddings feeling like an outsider, in tears that I hadn’t made much impact on the guests and event. After hundreds of years and almost giving up more times than I can count, it finally dawned on me one day to actually watch what was happening behind me. After that, everything changed. Now I know that what I do is just the next phase in what I’ve always done. Maybe the room isn’t full of 5 year olds anymore, but if you look again, I think it might still be full of kids in search of magic and wonder. I love what I do. And even more, I love what it does to others 🩵✨. #LiveWeddingPainting #SouthernCaliforniaWeddingPainter #OrangeCountyWedding #LiveWeddingPainter #2027Bride
