@chefsdoor: Homemade Coconut Oil (Traditional Wet Method) Ingredients • Fresh mature coconuts (not young coconuts) • Water (as needed) ⸻ Instructions Step 1: Extract the Coconut Milk 1. Crack open the coconuts. 2. Remove the white flesh from the shell. 3. Cut the flesh into small pieces. 4. Add the coconut pieces to a blender. 5. Add warm water (just enough to help it blend). 6. Blend until very smooth. ⸻ Step 2: Strain 1. Pour the blended mixture through a cheesecloth, nut milk bag, or fine strainer. 2. Squeeze well to extract as much liquid as possible. 3. The liquid you collect is fresh coconut milk. 4. The leftover pulp can be dried and used as coconut flour. ⸻ Step 3: Separate the Cream 1. Pour the coconut milk into a glass jar. 2. Refrigerate for 8–24 hours. 3. The milk will separate into: • Thick coconut cream (top) • Coconut water (bottom) ⸻ Step 4: Turn Coconut Cream into Oil 1. Scoop out the thick coconut cream (this is what you cook). 2. Add it to a pan on very low heat. 3. Simmer gently, stirring occasionally. After about 15–30 minutes: • The water will evaporate • The solids will brown • The clear oil will separate ⸻ Step 5: Strain 1. Strain the hot mixture through a fine strainer or cheesecloth. 2. The clear liquid you collect is virgin coconut oil. 3. Let it cool — it will turn solid at room temperature.
you were doing so well until you cooked the coconut to get oil. The heat took away the good properties of the coconut. Cold pressed coconut oil is the best, not the heated one.

Most nutrition experts recommend limiting its intake due to its high saturated fat content, though it offers unique benefits not found in other oils. Rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), it may aid in fat loss and quick energy, though it is high in calories. It contains lauric acid, which has been shown in laboratory studies to have antibacterial and antifungal effects.
