A lot of people need to realize that anxious people are just as toxic.

Anxious only get anxious because avoidants CHOOSE to not communicate.

BUT, the tricky part is, avoidants avoid themselves too. They avoid self reflection, therapy etc etc. Where as the anxious often does the inner work. Tricky.

so why do they breadcrumb one person but offer full plates of themselves to everyone else?

Difference is I self regulate and calm the need for reassurance and limit myself to not need it right away avoidants will never sit in their discomfort just leave them alone 🤷

people hate avoidants and see them as the problem but the reality is both attachment styles are a result of trauma, and it takes time to heal

the thing that pisses me off is that I also had deeply emotionally unavailable parents bordering on emotionally abusive and I *still put in the fucking effort to talk to my partner* especially if they express pain to me. it's fucking despicable behaviour to not respond to your partner expressing pain for HOURS AND HOURS

I don't care why avoidance do what they do anymore. After 35yrs of this I feel like I have wasted my life loving someone who has destroyed everything I've ever wanted. Young people...if you are in a relationship like this...love yourself enough to leave.

Remember, the space you give them is also the space you're getting. Use it wisely.

I'm genuinely curious as to why we describe these states as "attachment styles" when they feel more like "conditions" or trauma response

If we all just understand that we all got traumas and go to therapy to be better us it would benefit not just us but everyone

Honestly I’d rather be an avoidant, not be vulnerable and not trusting, it’s much safer I think

imagine calling someone a villain for being in their survival instincts 😭 avoidants can be toxic and so can anxious. Just because they can talk doesn’t mean they are communicating. Many anxious need CONSTANT reassurance and refuse to learn how to self regulate. Both need to take responsibility for themselves and their own feelings.

4 months in, met his parents and then he stood me up for a date, sent me a cold response ending things and immediately blocked me. Understanding avoidants is impossible.
