But you can install a Suica card on your smart phone with three clicks without ever creating an account or anything. I don’t see the benefit of using the credit card. And keep in mind that there’s a lot of credit cards out there that charge international exchange rates… so each tap will cost you the amount of a trip plus the exchange rate

I would rather pay one international fee and fully charged my Suica/Pasmo instead of doing mini transactions. I have a lot of international fees.

Contactless credit card payment is NOT accepted on JR East lines. If you travel across JR lines and private railways, you may need to pay the fare separately, which can be confusing.

i didn't see that 3 days ago... BUT there is a machine that provides Welcome cards that can be used for 29 days. it is free, you just have to top it up. if you are there for 1 day, you can top it up with the minimum 1000 yen and they accept card payments.
