@soft.exit.for.nurses: Hospitals don't bill for your skills individually. They bundle everything into Room & Board. So, whether you save a patient's life or spend 12 hours chasing orders, the system charges the same. Independent nurses? We finally get to itemize what we actually do. Nurses are never taught how hospital billing actually works. Inside the system, all RN, LPN, and tech labor gets grouped into a single non-itemized charge called Room & Board, meaning expertise has no individual value on paper. Independent practice changes that. Your assessment, planning, teaching, and interventions become billable services. Independent private practice looks like: Concierge Nursing, Private Duty, Care Navigation, Senior Care Coaching, Nurse Entrepreneurship options. Your skills has value!

I’ve long said nursing pay and “value” in eyes of hospitals and Nh will never change until we are a line item

This is such an important conversation. Must nurses don’t realize how much of their experience is bundled, invisible, and undervalued inside institutional billing models. When you break it down like this, it’s clear the issue isn’t productivity, it’s ownership of practice. I love your content, thank you for naming what so many feel but can’t articulate 💙
