it’s a lose lose because if my husband gets sick or doesn’t take care of himself, I suffer (and so do his kids if he has them). that’s why so many women take matters into their own hands

100%! I stopped helping my husband make his appointments when we switched dentists, he makes them on his own now BUT last time he saw the wrong dentist (the clinic has 5) and didn’t even know it 😅 didn’t ask relevant questions about the procedure he was getting too.. he has a PhD in the science field & has a great job, but I don’t get why they slack when it comes to their health…

I agree and disagree. Men need to be in charge of their health but I have scheduled appointments for my husband. Just not on a regular basis.

My husband and my 20-yr-old son make their own appointments. My 16-yr-old daughter makes her own appointments when she doesn't need me there for it.

Yes. Just stop booking them. I used to do this but I realised it was thankless and tbh if he wanted to meet a self inflicted early grave that was a choice as a grown adult he can make. I now mention once that I think he could do with x checkup or when was the last time he had it and then I will mention it once again if I’m booking my own and happen to remember but I will not book his. I used to get told I don’t care enough but my rebuttal was simple- you told me not to be your mother so I’m not trying to take her place (praying she is in heaven for what that saint of a woman put up with from all the memories they speak of). That actually sobered him and he now manages his health but I will cook healthier meals to support lowering his cholesterol bc I am still his partner and he does a lot for me too

My husband takes care of all of his appointments. I am not taking on the mental load of managing his health, however I do remind him that when he does not care for himself two other people pay for the consequences (myself and our baby)

I don’t schedule my husbands doctor appointments, I don’t do his laundry, I don’t take care of his car etc. these are all things he does as an adult 👍

As a parent I raise my son to be a grown up. He cooks, cleans and does everything for himself. Any wife doing this is mothering their husband.

Yes. I have not once in 22 years of marriage scheduled my husband’s appointments. They did this before we met them and they can keep doing it.
