@alexxa.bickfordd: Replying to @twin dial I don't mean any negativity towards the commenter, this is a genuine question and a mindset that the majority of society has adapted- even myself in the past #grwm #retail #restaurant #job
THIS👏👏👏 because a cashier at costco makes more than i do in a corporate job

Servers/bartenders can make 80-100k a year in CASH 😂 what other jobs can you make $50 cash and hour with no experience?!

also I'm so confused when people look down on working in retail/restaurants when you're "older" like yes a full grown adult running a store/restaurant makes way more sense than college kids!

Everyone I know that a) happy in their job and b) bank rolling…. Is NOT working a corporate 9-5. It’s such an outdated way of thinking.

YES 🙌🏻 Left two corporate jobs post grad to go back to the coffee shop I was working at. Made more $, no more toxic workplace and was waaaay less stressed.

THIS!!! As much as I want out of the hospitality industry because the late nights are just not sustainable for me or my family and kiddos anymore, it’s still a damn job that I make good money at. SAY IT LOUDER

I have a full time corporate job but still serve cause I love it - and I always feel bad when people comment on my office job being a “real” job - as if serving is not a real job !!!

I am not in corporate. I'm a therapist that works with special needs children . It took six years of school, a masters degree and lots of training to get fully liscenced. Working evenings and weekends is the norm in my field, though no late nights since we work with children. Still, we really don't make a lot of money relative to the training and experience we have 😭. We cap around 100-120k at best. I graduated my masters in 2013 with 76k in student loans.

Exactly this. Two college diplomas, still paying off the tuition, and not even using them. Life happens, paths change—what matters is providing for your family and being fulfilled 🥰

I’m 32 and just got out of restaurants last year and I can tell you getting a 9-5 isn’t an accomplishment. I needed a lifestyle change and I’m happy for now but this is absolutely not where I see the rest of my life going and it’s much too short to live sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day.

That makes me sad. What’s important is enjoying what you do because if not you’re miserable, which in turn projects onto others around you. Thank you for this!!

I was in hospitality for 10 years and in corporate for 20 years now. They are different. There’s different work life balance. Different perks. It really depends on the person and their wants, goals and needs.

AGREED! Also feel like this applies to life in general. Everyone is on their own path. Things like home ownership, children, marriage, climbing the corporate ladder, etc. aren’t goals for everyone!

There is more than one way to earn a decent salary, 9-5 office life isn't the only jobs out there. Money is money, chase that 💰🫶

I can’t agree moooore! I’m lowkey self conscious about it and being a mom, like it’s almost embarrassing to say out loud 🥲 but the money is better than a 9-5
