I liked the movie but the fact that they didn’t stay together on the airbnb or had to endure the struggles that push them back together was sad. Because somehow if felt rushed like “they’re getting back together just because 🤷🏻♀️” where’s the yearning? There’s not enough building or tension between them. Also, Alex character on the book has so many layers and with the changes it just felt flat. As a movie is a great rom-com. Just a little distracted by the changes😅😂

I agree with all of this! The movie was good. But the book just gives us so much more to really understand them and their relationship. The acting was so great though and they really encompassed the characters so well!

all the changes do work well to fit the pacing of a romcom movie however I do wish it got cleared for a limited series of every episode being each summer / vacation the way it said “_ summers ago” could have been each episode title..

As someone who hasn’t read the book I thought the movie was cute. Def a step up from recent Netflix romcoms. It felt more thought out

I liked that Sara got out of Linford in movie. I missed the mishaps from Palm Springs but overall good rom com.

I laughed several times and didn't expect to with a Netflix movie! like the burrito scene was another good example. I thought it was good, and loved the book too!

I think it was a good adaptation but they left so many good things out. I definitely loved the book so much more but I did enjoy the movie.

They had to convey the overall message of the book in the time they had and I thought they did pretty well! The casting was spot on! I agree with you on everything.

Wow. The book purist whining has been exhausting. I really appreciate this objective take and I agree 99%. I loved the book (I read it twice) and I loved the movie. I’m glad they changed Palm Springs to Barcelona. Poppy lives in NY and travels around the world at her employer's expense but can’t afford a trip to Palm Springs during the cheap summer months? A travel expert at the height of her career opts to “source a ride from a Facebook group” somewhere offsite rather than simply find the cheapest car rental from an airport car rental company? Loved the book but that was simply unbelievable. But I’m glad they kept the broken A/C and romantic kiss in the pouring rain. The cinematic ending was also better than the book.
