How could the earth be flat when you can SEE the moon is a sphere? I just cannot understand how people can honestly think the earth is flat. There are verses also that say it’s not flat.

@Jay: Ashley, I hope you will read what I have to say. First, I am amazed at all of the wonderful things I have learned from you in just 2 months. I would have to say that you truly opened my eyes and I am grateful! I applaud you for interpreting scripture for exactly what it says. Your technique, that can open many eyes, can also result in closed eyes. Not all of scripture is meant for literal interpretation. I heard you say that “wandering stars” means there are no planets. I get it, scripture never talks about planets. Even Earth is not called a planet. That should tip you off about something.” “Wandering stars” is used once as a metaphor (Jude) and otherwise as a way to identify planets because without a telescope they look exactly like stars. Buy a telescope or contact an amateur astronomers club and they will be glad to let you see the difference between wandering stars (planets) and actual stars (very different appearance. Now, you also say that the Earth is flat because scripture describes it as flat. The trouble is that if you understood Newtons formula for gravity (F = G * (m1 * m2) / r^2) you would understand that a flat earth is impossible. Alternatively, if you use Einstein’s General Relativity method to calculate gravity (space time curvature level of accuracy) you would also find a flat Earth simply cannot be true. 1+1 can only ever equal 2. The same is true for gravity. The methods of calculating gravity will always prove the Earth cannot be flat. This leaves only one other possibility: scripture is speaking metaphorically when it discusses a flat Earth. Certainly, with your knowledge you are already familiar with scripture using metaphors. In the case of flat earth, you have erroneously interpreted metaphorical statements to be statements of fact. I do hope you will work on this more so that you can improve your understanding of scripture.

When I went to church, that handed out booklets that were created weekly with the same subject the pastor preached. That’s when I started questioning, things were set up by man and not preaching what God put on the pastors heart.
