@sacramentourbanmedia916: A mother and stepfather are facing child abuse charges after authorities say they relocated to Florida and left their 14-year-old daughter living alone in Alabama for nearly a year. According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, the teenager was left in a mobile home with seven dogs under conditions investigators described as severely unsanitary. Deputies reported finding animal urine and feces throughout the residence, along with roaches and large amounts of trash, WALA reported. Investigators also discovered one of the dogs dead inside a closet, officials said. The girl’s parents were later located in Pensacola, Florida, about an hour away from the Alabama home. Law enforcement became aware of the situation on Sunday after employees at a nearby Dollar General noticed the teen appearing disoriented outside the store. Deputies responded and determined the girl was experiencing dizziness and stomach pain. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment. While at the hospital, the teen told detectives she had been living alone in the mobile home since February 2024. She said her mother, Marchelle Lynn Pertilla, and stepfather, Eugene Medrano, moved to Pensacola and left her behind. According to the girl, the last time she saw them in person was Halloween. The teen told investigators she remained in contact with her parents, mostly through Snapchat. When she needed food, she said her mother would arrange deliveries through DoorDash or Walmart. On Monday, sheriff’s deputies and Prichard Animal Control carried out a search warrant at the home. All seven dogs were located, including the one that had died. The surviving animals were taken into animal control custody. During the search, detectives also found a handwritten note titled, “How many times mom tells me that she can’t pick me up!” The note reportedly contained 87 tally marks.#viral #fyp
