Rent every couple years for a month get your work done and ship it out. Buying to sit 90% of time invest money else where. I loved working on the D8k especially starting them up in the cold.

Typically if it’s a tiny job (week or less) we would hire it out. If it’s longer term we would rent a dozer or whatever we needed from a company like Optimum equipment solutions

your better hiring a dozer for clearing. dozers are a huge maintenance expense

Way too easy to put 100k into old iron those old dozers. Further ahead to buy low hours, put 1000 hrs on it and ditch it. Otherwise put $500 for every hour you run it into savings for the repair bills coming

Get a really good mechanic and go shopping and buy a really good used machine. It’ll save you thousands in the end. Make sure you check it out thoroughly.

seems alot farmers are liking the yellow equipment in their yard. I would hire it done and be done. most yellow equipment is sold cause its wore out or been a problem.

I looked at buying a used dozer but for my size farm didn’t pencil out. Spend 60g or more on a used dozer is all fine and dandy but if u have problems with it, comes outta ur pocket. They can be money pits plus there meant to be worked, not something that u can find that is not abused say like farm equipment how u can find the right mint shape tractor etc. i hire it out. 10g at a time usually is spent to get some bushed cleared. So yes it does add up but saves the headache of having to own one. Everyone operation is different. If I could cash flow it I would love a dozer n hoe. I even thought a hoe would be more beneficial than a dozer off the start as it can still be used to clear bush, just takes longer makes the piles nice n don’t have dirt in them like u do with a dozer and u can use the hoe for other projects. Rock piles, water line trench, power long trench, etc.

Contract this heavy equipment work out. Find someone who is local and can understand your end goal on what you want done. Will be cheaper in the long term
