Most athletes think speed training means… Running more sprints. It doesn’t. Elite speed development is about quality—not quantity. Research consistently shows that maximal sprinting with full recovery produces better improvements in acceleration, power, and sprint mechanics than performing large volumes of fatigued sprints. If you’re exhausted… You’re no longer training speed. You’re training fatigue. ⚡ What a Great Acceleration Session Includes 1️⃣ Dynamic Warm-Up (10–15 min) Increase body temperature, activate key muscles, and improve mobility before sprinting. 2️⃣ Sprint Mechanics Drills A-Skips, Wall Drills, Falling Starts, Ankling, and Marches to reinforce efficient movement patterns. 3️⃣ Explosive Plyometrics Broad Jumps, Bounds, Pogos, and Box Jumps to improve rate of force development and ground contact efficiency. 4️⃣ Max-Effort Accelerations ✔️ 10–30 yard sprints ✔️ 95–100% effort ✔️ 2–4 minutes rest between reps Quality reps build elite speed. 5️⃣ Strength Training Develop force with exercises like Trap Bar Deadlifts, Squats, Split Squats, Romanian Deadlifts, and Sled Pushes. Speed isn’t just about moving fast… It’s about producing more force into the ground. 💡 Pro Tips ✅ Keep total sprint volume around 200–300 yards for acceleration work. ✅ Stop the workout when speed begins to drop. ✅ Sprint while fresh—not after conditioning. ✅ Prioritize full recovery between reps. ✅ Record your sprints to improve mechanics. Remember… You don’t get faster by doing more. You get faster by doing the right things with maximum intent. Every rep should look like game speed. Train fast. Recover fully. Repeat consistently. 💬 QUESTION What’s the biggest mistake athletes make during speed training? Comment “SPEED” if you’re committed to training smarter—not just harder.
