I think it was a feeling of not greed but pride and defiance just because he didn’t want to kneel before God doesn’t mean he didn’t feel greed or didn’t want power but he prided himself on the fact he was so highly thought of and how he felt cocky so he didn’t need to bow to god because he was already a high being himself. He himself was God’s creation and shows how truth defined his worthiness of character and worth and how much defiance mattered to God and his own will and ego.
