@michellebellexo: Drunk guy forgets to tell the bartender that he wanted to pay cash and not run it on his card #bartender #barowner #serviceindustry #creditdispute
Blows my mind how you can just use someone’s card without their knowledge and charge anything on it

Just write it down, how do you expect drunk people to 'remind you'

thats so messed up. taking advantage of a drunk person especially since the other bartender knew. should have voided it and re rang it in.

Charging a customer double after he explicitly said he would pay cash at the end is theft.

When I open a tab for a customer paying cash I put "paying cash" with their name in the system.

I feel like the bartender should write CASH AT END on their receipt especially if there is multiple BTs on shift. This would completely avoid this

They owe him the $70 as an apology for putting it onto tips jar and not refund the card transaction 😒

I know it’s a shady bartender skit. But, In most POS systems, running the card isn’t the same as closing it out because you still can add a tip. You have to go back and enter the final amount to close it. So, changing from card to cash is still possible without having to do a refund.

Hmm my old restaurant the manager could cancel the transaction, it would take a couple to show it cleared but still could do it.

Where I work if that happens we would just void out the cc transaction and use the cash. It’s happened before. And I always ask would you like it in the card you opened with.

I would have reopened it and closed it to cash. It takes two seconds… there are so many sneaky things I’ve seen over the years. My least favorite is not telling guests about AUTOGRAT and accepting the added gratuity (double grat) you don’t see it too too much at the bar but you can do a skit where you have a 6top high top bar table with auto grat.
