I saw someone who got a small cheap TV for their kid. Added a dvd player etc And just thrifted a bunch of 90s kids shows. So they can keep their kids attention span longer

Not to mention if the TV is across the room you are receiving sensory input from everything/everyone in the room. If you are holding a tablet in your hands you are only receiving input from the tablet and when you take that tablet away you now have increased sensory input from your surroundings

I hate having the TV on all the time, but like, my husband watching documentaries while feeding the baby and the toddler plays is way better than him being on his phone and her being on an iPad!

the big screen stays put and cant travel with us. the big screen is easy to be distracted from. the big screen is easier for mom and dad to control

My toddler watches so much tv since I’ve been pregnant & it’s FREEZING here. So it’s inevitable right now in this season of life 🥲

I fully lean in to this philosophy too! If she can’t scroll and change it every 5 seconds, it can’t be as bad for her. And she will get up and do other things while the tv is on, which I don’t think she would do with an iPad.

My daughter seems to think that she is the owner and decider of the tv 😅

I definitely let my son play my games with me I interact with his shows. I explain things like specific types of flowers if we see examples. He is a little behind at 21 months but, you can hear him attempting to form sentences. Not quite clear but almost make it out.

Our TV has been broken so unfortunately we have had to do shows on iPad. But we limit it and always set up the expectation of when we will turn it off. So far so good 😅

As a first time mom I definitely leaned on the iPad way too much. The regret is real 🥺

My daughter is not even 2 and can say 5 words together… and she loves Miss Rachel! That’s her girl. TV in moderation in my opinion is fine. I never would let her play with my phone or an iPad unless we’re on an airplane and she’s losing it.

Small tip. When I for some reason do need to play a show on my phone for my 2 little ones I have found propping up the phone like a TV and making them sit back and not be allowed to touch it helps quite a bit vs. when I made the mistake of letting them hold the phone.
