yes you can tell water is coming out and its working thats for sure...well in my 22 years of carpentry and construction

Bricks soak up some water not enough to leak in the back . Most water comes from condensation and bed joints that aren't fully bounded. Setting used brick, we had to dip them in a bucket of water before we laid them .
