This scene reminded me of when i first tried coming to my parents emotionally, they proceeded to try and downplay how i felt, compared their struggles as worse than mine, and js invalidated all my feelings in total. I grew up never understanding what it felt like to be close with my parents because they just lacked so much emotional intelligence
