I still find it weird how Naobito's views are so opposite to Naoya. You see Naobito acknowledge those with a heavenly restriction and see him respect Maki to an extent. He also forced Mai to become a sorcerer when women in the Zenin clan are usually not allowed to fight at all. Then you mentioning their possible relationship I question how Naoya turned out this way. Also Naobito is still definitely an enabler.

naoya 100% gives off the vibe of a person who was never told no as a child and whose narcissism was reinforced by everyone around telling him he was special. (as well as actually being special by inheriting the technique) very much a joffrey type. it's an interesting juxtaposition to gojo, who was also basically worshipped as a child. gojo ended up resenting his clan though, while naoya embraced it.

a theory that naoya's mom abandoned him is pretty stupid. he doesn't need to have a personal grudge against a woman who wronged him in the past to be a horrible person. it's entirely unnecessary to try to read some hint of tragedy into a character who was handed absolutely everything and still chose to be evil

I think naobito treated him pretty well, but he was probably distant. Probably dropping him off at a trainer or something, but when he was with him he probably spoiled tf outta him

I like to think that Naoya was, from a young age, fed this narrative and belief that since he got his dad’s CT that he’ll be the head. But since Megumi got the 10S, Naobito likely saw that then (this is just HC) heard tales and stories of past Zenin clan heads with the 10S being fairly decent leaders and opted to resort leaving Megumi as the clan head. Because even though Naobito was a dotting father and loved his son greatly, Naoya is not fit to be a clan leader.

I really like that headcanon about Naoya's mother!... But also (at least as I interpret the character), that might help explain why Naoya doesn't treat women the way other Zenin do (like Ogi). He sees women in a very narrow way, not because of actual misogyny, but because he doesn't know how to see women any other way.
