We live in a very old cottage! Get a dehumidifier or dehumidifier boxes. We have curtains up in the living room to keep the heat in from the fire, and to stop it all go out of the hallway wall (which is an external wall). Always keep the house very warm! A lot warmer than you think, helps with damp and mould. We literally get wet waters and water dripping through the paint
