Yes, U can take an Amtrak train from Houston to California using the Sunset Limited route. The trip typically takes around 36 to 41 hrs, & it runs about 3 times a week. As for the cost, one-way coach fares generally start around $170 to $200, but they can go up to about $480 depending on the class & timing. Sleeper accommodations will cost more obviously. I think it would be a fun trip. I love seeing whatever the scene maybe. Mountains, desert, water, etc…

I've done it 3 times. you get 2 seats. it's comfortable with windows view. you can walk around the train and go in the observation cart it all see threw glass cart. they have a bar on the train, a restaurant. you can rent a room on it to.

I took the train from Houston to Modesto. It took 2 and a half days. It was very relaxing, I paid 200 and something… There was people at certain stops selling food, snacks and drinks!

i took Sunset Ltd from Hou to Tucson, AZ. November. it was deep snowing in Alpine, TX😁 Beautiful. I live the dining car and observation ❤️
