Highly recommend watching the Pocahontas movie with the alternative audio track Missing Matoaka. It’s beautifully done and tells her true tragic story, and not Disney’s romanticized version…

Just a reminder that the real Pocahontas, Motoaka was taken from her family, her people, and her land when she was a child. It was never a love story, she was given to a man and seen as a savage and a spectacle before her untimely death from being exposed to multiple diseases.

I most people who like the Disney version of Pocahontas don't like the sequel, but I actually like it because it is more historically accurate than the first one.

it kills me every time I walk past the church she was buried at to get the train. the fact we don't know specifically where she was buried at that church and the only thing is a statue. I look at the statue knowing she shouldn't be laid to rest here. She deserves more than anything to be home.
